SECOND EVENT SALAA AND SARWC WALKING EVENT
This weekend (27th May) will be the second event of the SA Little Athletics Association (SALAA) and SARWC walking events, commencing at 12 noon. Please note these walks are open to ALL registered SA Little Athlete members. This includes members of SALAA and our club. To compete in this event, athletes will need to wear the uniform of their SALAA club. Following this event, commencing at 1.30pm, we will be holding the SARWC Club Championships. Can all athletes competing in this event please ensure that they wear our club uniform, number and timing chip. If you are competing in the SALAA event before, please remember to bring this with you. |
SA LITTLE ATHLETICS WINTER RACE WALKING SEASON
The Little Athletics SA Winter Race Walking Season provides young athletes a chance to try race walking. Any athletes from U/7 to U/17 can come and take part. If you are a current member of a Little Athletics Club, you can turn up on any of the days of the Winter Race Walking Season and participate. FREE ENTRY FOR ALL MEETS! The dates: Meet 1 - Saturday 6th May Meet 2 - Saturday 27th May Meet 3 - Saturday 3rd June Championship Meet - Saturday 17th June (to be eligible for the Championship Meet, athletes must have attended at least one of the three previous meets) Location of all meets: Adelaide Hockey Clubrooms, corner of Greenhill Road and Peacock Road. PEOPLE'S CHOICE COMMUNITY LOTTERY
Members please support our club by selling a book of 10 tickets in the People's Choice Community Lottery. Books will be available at our Saturday meets. Books are $20 each and individual tickets are $2, with all the ticket sales go directly to our club. |
2017 Australian Athletics Championships
Well done to our members who competed in the recent 2017 Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney (held from 26th March to 2nd April) Team SA collected 9 Gold, 17 Silver and 20 Bronze medals along with many PB's. Start of 2017 Season
The first event for 2017 will be our Welcome Walk and BBQ on Saturday the 8th of April at 2pm at Peacock Rd. The distances competitors can compete in are 5Km, 3Km and 1Km. Remember to enter the event online on this website (click 'Enter Events'). We would love to see as many new faces as possible. If you know of anyone who you think would like to have a go at race walking, please bring them along. |
SARWC AGM and Presentations
Sadly it is the end of the season. We look forward to seeing you all out at ASA for the summer season. Thank you to everyone that attended the AGM, forum and presentation. A special thank you to our committee, judges, officials and athletes for a fantastic winter season. It was fantastic to have three Olympians Tanya Holliday, Jared and Claire Tallent out for the presentations. Thank you for your time, I know the athletes are inspired by your achievements, and best of luck Jared in China in a few weeks time. Congratulations to Tonia Lewry on being awarding life membership to Athletics SA, and thank you to Joe Stevens for attending and presenting at the SARWC presentation. |
Rhiannon Lovegrove representing Australia at the Oceania Melanesian Games
Congratulations to Rhiannon Lovegrove who will be representing Australia at the Oceania Melanesian Games from the 7th-9th of July at the ANZ Stadium Suva Fiji. Rhiannon will be competing in the under 18 5000 metre race walking event. Well done Rhiannon, we are all proud of you, best of luck on the day. |
Jared Tallent Selected in the 2016 Rio Olympic Team
Congratulations to Jared Tallent who has been selected to compete in the 50Km and 20Km race walking events at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. One of Australia's most successfully race walkers who was recently notified he would be awarded his well deserved gold medal from the 50Km race walk at the London Games. Best of luck with the lead up to the games and competition on the day, Australia is very proud of you. |
Tanya Holliday Selected in the Rio Olympic Team
Congratulations to Tanya Holliday who has been selected to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Tanya will compete in the women's 20Km race walk. After many years of hard work and sticking at the sport the dream has finally come true.
