Australian Masters Athletics Championships in Darwin - June 2017

Well done to Kim Mottram on a national record in the 1500m walk at the Australian Masters Athletics Championships in Darwin. Kim walked a time of 6.04,50.

Kim also won medals in the 5km, 8km cross country and 10km run.

51st Lake Burley Griffin Carnival - Canberra 2017

Well done to all the SARWC athletes at the 51st Lake Burley Griffin Carnival in Canberra on Sunday 11th June. Whilst we only had a small team, all members meant we had quite a successful weekend.

This weekend (27th May) will be the second event of the SA Little Athletics Association (SALAA) and SARWC walking events, commencing at 12 noon.

Please note these walks are open to ALL registered SA Little Athlete members. This includes members of SALAA and our club. To compete in this event, athletes will need to wear the uniform of their SALAA club.

Following this event, commencing at 1.30pm, we will be holding the SARWC Club Championships. Can all athletes competing in this event please ensure that they wear our club uniform, number and timing chip. If you are competing in the SALAA event before, please remember to bring this with you.

The Little Athletics SA Winter Race Walking Season provides young athletes a chance to try race walking. Any athletes from U/7 to U/17 can come and take part. If you are a current member of a Little Athletics Club, you can turn up on any of the days of the Winter Race Walking Season and participate. 


The dates:
Meet 1 - Saturday 6th May
Meet 2 - Saturday 27th May
Meet 3 - Saturday 3rd June
Championship Meet - Saturday 17th June  (to be eligible for the Championship Meet, athletes must have attended at least one of the three previous meets)

Location of all meets:  Adelaide Hockey Clubrooms, corner of Greenhill Road and Peacock Road.

Times for the events (same time for all meets):
U/9 to U/11      12.00pm     1km distance
U/6 to U/8        12.20pm     500m distance (Fun Walk)
U/12 to U/17    12.45pm     2km distance
**  Please make sure you are at the event 20 minutes prior to the starting time **

Members please support our club by selling a book of 10 tickets in the People's Choice Community Lottery.
Books will be available at our Saturday meets.

Books are $20 each and individual tickets are $2, with all the ticket sales go directly to our club.

Jared Tallent - Athletics Australia Male Athlete of the Year (2016)

Congratulation to Jared Tallent for being named Athletics Australia’s Male Athlete of the Year (2016) at the recent National Awards. 2016 was a very successful year for Jared, with him finally being presented with his 2012 London Olympic Gold medal for the 50km walk and receiving the Order of Australia medal in Melbourne in June. Jared also won the Gold medal in the 50km World Walking Cup in Rome his fantastic Silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic 50km.

Well done Jared.

2017 Oceania Athletics Area Championships

Congratulations to club member Rhiannon Lovegrove, who was selected to represent Australia in the U/18 5km walk in Fiji. The competition is being held from 28th June to 2nd July this year. Good luck Rhiannon !!!

Australian Little Athletics Championships April 2017

Congratulations to Victoria and Adrian Upton for their efforts at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Sydney. Both competed in the 1500m race walk and Victoria claimed victory in a massive PB of 6.48.06. Adrian came in 6th, and whilst he was disqualified, this is a mammoth effort. Well done to these two up and coming stars of South Australian race walking.

Well done to our members who competed in the recent 2017 Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney (held from 26th March to 2nd April)

Team SA collected 9 Gold, 17 Silver and 20 Bronze medals along with many PB's.

Among those medals were the following medals for race walking:

Tristan Camilleri U17 5000m Walk
Toby Wilks U14 3000m Walk - Meet Record

Joe Cross U16 3000m Walk
Victoria Upton U15 3000m Walk

Rhiannon Lovegrove U18 5000m Walk

Start of 2017 Season

The first event for 2017 will be our Welcome Walk and BBQ on Saturday the 8th of April at 2pm at Peacock Rd. The distances competitors can compete in are 5Km, 3Km and 1Km. Remember to enter the event online on this website (click 'Enter Events').
We would love to see as many new faces as possible. If you know of anyone who you think would like to have a go at race walking, please bring them along.
