Most of the SA Race Walking events are held at the club rooms however from time to time we do run events at other locations. See program and event locations for details;

Last week we used the 1Km loop which is straight up and back. Given this coming week we will be holding longer events the 2Km loop will be used.

How do I know when to turn around?

It is important especially for younger athletes to feel comfortable on the track. One of the stresses is often the question of; where do I turn around for my event distance? To assist with this question the club uses a standard set of coloured cones to both mark the track and indicate the turn points.

See track and distance marking PDF for full details however here is a brief summary;

  • Start and 2km Loop – Orange cone.
  • 1.5Km Loop – Green cone.
  • 1Km Loop – Yellow cone.
  • Guide Witches Hats (Athletes must keep to the left of these markers) – White cones.

Although the club will explain this in detail at the next event it may be useful to explain this to your child before coming to the event.
